You love God.

You want to be close to Him. But lately? Your Bible feels like just another book, and your quiet time feels more like a chore than a lifeline.

If you’ve ever felt spiritually dry, you are not alone. So many of us—especially Christian women juggling life, ministry, work, and family—hit seasons where we feel distant from God or disconnected from the Word.

But here’s the beautiful truth: God has not moved. And He’s ready to meet you right where you are, even in the dryness. The Word of God is still alive, still active, and still the well that never runs dry.

Let’s talk about how to refresh your soul and reignite your passion for Scripture again.

1. Acknowledge the Season Without Shame

Spiritual dryness is a season—not a sentence. And it doesn’t mean you’re a bad Christian.

David, the man after God’s heart, cried out in

Psalm 63:1:

"O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You in a dry and weary land without water."

Even the faithful have dry days. So instead of guilt, respond with grace. Recognize the dryness, name it, and bring it before the Lord.

2. Shift From Duty to Delight

When Bible study becomes another item on your to-do list, it can start to feel lifeless. But what if we stopped approaching it as an obligation—and started treating it as a conversation with the One who loves us?

Try this:

  • Before opening your Bible, ask: “Lord, what do You want to show me today?”

  • Don’t chase checklists. Chase intimacy.

  • Choose passages that speak to your season (Psalms, John, Isaiah).

If you need help knowing where to begin, my From Study to Surrender 60-Day Study gently guides you through the Gospel of John—one chapter at a time—so you can rediscover the beauty of Scripture with purpose and depth.

3. Use a Bible Study Method That Helps You Connect

Dryness often comes when we’re skimming Scripture instead of soaking in it.

That’s why I developed the F.I.R.E. Method, designed to help you dig deep without getting overwhelmed:

  • Focus – Pick a short passage or a single chapter.

  • Investigate – What’s the context? Who’s speaking? What’s happening?

  • Reflect – How does this speak to your life right now?

  • Engage – Respond through prayer, journaling, worship, or action.

This method helps you slow down and actually meet God in His Word—not just read about Him.

4. Create an Atmosphere That Refreshes Your Spirit

Sometimes, the smallest changes make the biggest difference. Make your Bible study space feel sacred:

  • Light a candle or play soft worship music.

  • Grab your favorite drink and a cozy blanket.

  • Use a journal to write out prayers or Scriptures.

The goal isn’t aesthetics—it’s intentionality. You’re setting aside space to encounter God.

If you’re a visual or creative type, you might even incorporate Bible journaling, doodles, or color-coded notes as a form of worship.

5. Ask The Holy Spirit to Breathe Life Into the Word Again

You don’t have to manufacture passion. Ask the Giver of life to reignite it within you.

Pray something like:

“Holy Spirit, breathe fresh wind into my time in the Word. Open my eyes. Stir my heart. Help me fall in love with Scripture all over again.”

The same Spirit who inspired the Word now lives in you—and He loves revealing Jesus through every page.

You're One Step Away From Reconnection

Dry seasons don’t last forever. But they can still bear fruit when we press in and seek God honestly. The Word of God is not a textbook—it’s a love letter. And He’s still speaking.

If you need a clear path to help you study the Bible with purpose, depth, and renewed fire, I invite you to join me in From Study to Surrender—a 60-day journey through the Gospel of John using the F.I.R.E. Method. It’s gentle, guided, and designed to help you reconnect with God deeply.
